REIKI is a natural healing technique that uses laying-on of hands. When activated and applied for purposes of healing, Reiki addresses body, mind and spirit. It accelerates the body's ability to heal physical ailments and opens the mind and spirit to the causes of disease, pain and disharmony. It encourages one to take responsibility for one's life and good health.
THE USUI SYSTEM was born out of the experience and dedication of Dr. Mikaw Usui, a Japanese Christian educator who, in the 1800's responded to a challenge from his university students by undertaking an extensive study of the healing phenomena of history's greatest spiritual healers. During a mystical experience on the Holy Mountain Kori-yama he received the complete system of Reiki. Dr. Usui spent the rest of his life practicing and teaching this method of natural healing, which involves attunement to the energy and the laying on of hands. The Usui system of Reiki continues to be taught today by Reiki Masters who are trained in the original traditions of Reiki and whose personal and professional lives are committed to this healing art and the lifestyle it engenders.
REIKI, a powerful but gentle energy, has been used to aid in healing virtually every known illness of mind, body and spirit. It does not replace traditional medicine, but rather compliments the healing process. It can be incorporated effectively into the healing arts practiced by health professionals. Reiki is deeply relaxing and creates a sense of well being which increases the rate of recovery. The sensation felt by the recipient of a Reiki treatment is usually a deep feeling of warmth, and comfort.
A REIKI TREATMENT is a light, hands-on process whereby a Reiki practioner transfers universal life force to the recipient. The treatment is safe and non-intrusive and the recipient remains fully clothed. During a full Reiki treatment, the practitioner directs healing energy to several areas of the head, the upper body (from neck to pelvic area) and the back (from shoulders to tail bone). The Reiki practitioner is a channel for the energy and therefore is not "doing" the healing. The receiver's willingness and acceptance determines the progress that can be made in her/his own healing process. Reiki is defined as spiritually guided life force and so it cannot be controlled by the practitioner.
REIKI CLASSES are conducted on three levels. In a Reiki I Class students are attuned to the energy and learn the history of Reiki, the basic hand positions for treatment and ways to use Reiki in their own lives and in service to others. In the Reiki II Class persons renew their commitment to use Reiki. They are taught the methods for sending Reiki at a distance and for furthering the mental, spiritual and emotional healing processes of individuals. Reiki III provides Master level for those called to continue the Reiki process through teaching Reiki.
